NFL Draft; Quick Review Round 1..
Just a quick look at some picks I liked thru tha draft today..
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009
So Lions take Matthew Strafford QB from Georgia with the 1st overall pick!
Now DET has fixed one offense issue. They have Kevin Smith at RB, Calvin at WR, and now actually have a QB! Plus they got a Tight End, which helps. I’m not a big Lions fan or anything, but would like to see them make a big turn around this season and get 8+ wins and shock everyone.
Crabtree is a 49er with tha 10th overall pick! I was hoping for either him or Maclin to go to tha 49ers and it happened. This should help improve their offense so a certain point. They still have issues.
And my team, Philly Eagles, take Maclin, from my home state! Many in STL are mad that tha Kirkwood to Mizzou player will not play in STL and want a trade. This beefs up tha Eagles offense greatly. Last year Jackson, now Maclin! So Jackson, Curtis, Avant, Baskett, Brown, we lost Lewis to NE, and now Maclin. That is a nice wide out set if they can stay healthy. McNabb should have a great season if injuries stay away..
And we picked up a RB from Pitt to help out Westbrook, LeSean McCoy. He gets to stay close to his college. This greatly takes weight from Westbrook. Brian is most of tha Philly offense and that is alot of work on him. This should give Philly a future star after Westbrook retires, which is not anytime soon hopefully, and give a great back up until then. He can run and catch, just like Westbrook..
Maclin..
NFL Pick Analysis: The Eagles make a move to grab a prolific play maker in Maclin. The former Tiger has the requisite skills to shine in the team’s West Coast offense, and he’s a threat to score from anywhere on the field. With DeSean Jackson and Maclin on the field at the same time, the Eagles have the ability to unveil an explosive passing attack that mixes a short passing game with a vertical attack.
LeSean McCoy
Pick Analysis:The Eagles get their running back of the future with the selection of McCoy. The former Panther has an exceptional combination of quickness, vision and elusiveness. In addition, McCoy is an outstanding receiver with terrific hands. With Brian Westbrook advancing in age, McCoy should serve as a solid complementary player next season.
Recap of Round 1:
1 Lions Matthew Stafford-QB (What they needed)
2 Rams Jason Smith-OT (Need 2 fill 4 Pace leaving)
3 Chiefs Tyson Jackson-DE (This beefs up their D)
4 Seahawks Aaron Curry-OLB (This should improve their D)
5 Jets Mark Sanchez-QB (Traded up & made a wise pick)
6 Bengals Andre Smith-OT (What they needed)
7 Raiders Darrius Heyward-Bey-WR (Shock 2 some, but not me)
8 Jaguars Eugene Monroe-OT (Help for their QB right here)
9 Packers B.J. Raji-DT (Good Pick)
10 49ers Michael Crabtree WR (One of my fav picks this year)
11 Bills Aaron Maybin-DE (Beefing up that D)
12 Broncos Knowshon Moreno-RB (Shocker 2 some, great pick)
13 Redskins Brian Orakpo-DE (Fill up for Taylor)

16 Chargers Larry English-DE (Nice Pick with this one)
17 Buccs Josh Freeman-QB (Great pick, he says he is tha best of tha 3)
18 Broncos Robert Ayers-LB (What they badly needed)
19 Eagles Jeremy Maclin-WR (YES, great pick!)
20 Lions Brandon Pettigrew-TE (More help 4 Strafford & that offense)
21 Browns Alex Mack-C (This was expected & was a need)
22 Vikings Percy Harvin-WR (Great pick for MIN)
23 Ravens Michael Oher-OT (Good pick)
24 Falcons Peria Jerry-DT (Smart pick)
25 Dolphins Vontae Davis-CB (Smart pick)
26 Packers Clay Matthews-OLB (What they needed)
27 Colts Donald Brown-RB (Good pick for Indy)
28 Bills Eric Wood-C (More help for that offense)
29 Giants Hakeem Nicks-WR (Smart pick, but angers me)
30 Titans Kenny Britt-WR (Very smart pick for Ten)
31 Cardinals Chris Wells-RB (Smart pick to give more offense power)
32 Steelers Evander Hood-DT (Good pick)
Overall this was a great round. Teams took care of needs and open spots. I just wish Nicks wouldn’t have went to tha Giants. Was hoping to see him in a Titans jersey or even Jags jersey, or even Eagles of course.
Of course I want Philly to do good. But I would like to see a turn around season from tha Lions, Buccs, 49ers, and Bills.
