Brian Westbrook & Lito Sheppard Show Up On Time..
All Star Running Back Brian Westbrook and star D player Lito Sheppard both arrived on time for Eagles training camp. Only one player was missing and that is Guard Shawn Andrews because of “personal reasons.” Westbrook is unhappy about his current contract and considered a player who would hold out. He even fired his agent Fletcher Smith and hired Todd France. He said him holding out was a possibility, but he wants to create tha best opportunity for renegotiating his contract. Back in November 2005 Westbrook, which then he was already a big weapon for tha Eagles, signed his 5 year extension worth about $25 million. But since that time his stats have greatly increased and he is among tha top RB’s of tha NFL. And he had 90 receptions, which is a team record for any position. He is a very dangerous weapon, both running and receiving. He just feels he has improved and deserves a better deal than he has, which I agree with. Westbrook is personally one of my favorite, if not my favorite, RB’s in tha NFL. And tha Eagles are my personal favorite team. He has earned his spot among tha top backs with tha likes of LT and does deserve a better deal. He didn’t say exactly how much money he wants, but there are reports that say he asked for $30 million guaranteed. He said that he didn’t ask tha front office for that kind of money. He said: “I didn’t mention that as a number that I was necessarily looking for,” Westbrook said in a comparison with the contract SD Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson received in 2004. “It was an extreme example, but that’s just how contracts work, usually, over the years.” He is just comparing contract and showing examples of other top backs. For not Westbrook is going to be practicing and trying to improve as a team with that 8-8 season last year. As long as McNabb is heathly they should get 10+ wins. McNabb and Westbrook are a dangerous combination and along with LJ Smith and their powerfull WR’s they should be a threat. As a team without Westbrook they would be struggling much more and it would be a larger task to improve from that 8-8 season. He does much of tha work for tha back field and even tha catching. But this season tha coachs have said they would like to lighten his work load to keep him healthy, lenghthen his career, and keep him breaking those big plays. They even brought in another RB Lorenzo Booker. Westbrook said: “I’ve come to play football. When I get on the football field, I come to do my job,” Westbrook said. “I hired an agent, so I’m going to allow him to address my off-the-field issues. I feel very comfortable with him. I think he’s a competent agent, a guy that can get the deal done, and I’m sure that he will.” And Lito has been talked about being traded since they got Samuel from tha Pats. Personally I think they need to keep Lito and just make a few changes to their D. With players like Lito, Dawkins, and Samuel on tha field at once that will be one tough D to get by. Lito hired agent Drew Rosenhaus last week. Hopefully he will stay an Eagle and have a great season.
