Hip-Hop Today..
Hip-Hop..Is it dead?
I say no, not as long as true talented lyricists still live.
There are very few real emcees in mainstream rap today. Tha rest are all underground. Most artists today just follow tha lame ass trend of talking about money, cars, jewelry, girls, houses, etc..For some reason they all think they have to brag on what they have, when honestly I’d bet most of them don’t really have it. For real, who tha fuck cares about your 22’s, your Benz, your shoes, or how much money you have. Cuz most listeners don’t have 22’s, have a cheap lil car, cheap shoes, and can barely pay bills. These dudes don’t realize they look stupid. And now theres this dance/clap/snap phase of Hip-Hop, which I must point out, is NOT Hip-Hop. Its more pop and R&B. You would never see 2Pac, Eminem, DMX, Nas, Ice Cube, Snoop, Rakim, Wu Tang, NWA, KRS-One..Cranking That or Hand Clapping. That shits just straight up wack. And artists such as Ice Cube and KRS point this out in their songs today. Some of tha only talented artists today in my opinion would be Talib Kweli, Chamillionaire, Common, Obie Trice, and some others. ((In your comment tell me who you think is good out of todays game))
Other dudes like Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris, MIMS, Shop Boyz, etc.. are not talented. Crank That, A Bay Bay, This Is Why I’m Hot, & Party Like A Rockstar are not good songs, they are songs over promoted, over played, and forced upon tha fans. There is little to no lyrical content in these songs. I have only heard a few songs by Hurricane Chris & MIMS that are average, but those songs won’t get promoted because tha beat isn’t jumpy enough and bullshit like that. But Soulja Boy just straight up has no skill. Everything he has done before and after Crank That, sucks..To put it simple he needs to quit. He is NOT a rapper, not an emcee, and is NOT Hip-Hop. Anyone who thinks his is clearly is supporting tha death of Hip-Hop, and destroying all tha real emcees worked for. Today it is all about money. So if you have money you can be a rapper is what most think. You can just pay a radio promoter to play you, even if you suck. You can pay companies to support you. You can pay for your song to become a hit. Then you will be played a few hundred times a day, every other song, and ringtones everywhere. Most dudes today care about ringtones, and not albums or mixtapes, which is sad. Its a shame what tha industry and game have come to. Money is all they care about, and all they do it for. There is no heart in tha game any more. No more passion for tha music and love for tha industry. Unless someone steps in and fights it mainstream will only be this ringtone rap, dance/clap/snap, fake, pop, R&B, bubblegum bullshit..
Its hard to accept, but Hip-Hop is fading. And as Ice Cube just recently said in an interview with XXL, ‘its going back to tha underground’ Which is pretty much true, except theres still wack rappers there. Fuck, their everywhere..Dudes sayin they tha best, they tha king of tha game, better than anyone else, greatest, and all that shit. When they just need to focus on doing THEIR music tha best and not worrying so much about being tha top cat, tha best, etc. Start caring about your own style, your own lyrics, and yourself and then you will be good. But bragging about your possessions does not make you an emcee, it makes you a fagget. Fuck money, cars, clothes, rims, shirts, shoes, houses, and all that shit. Put some damn heart into your songs and quit frontin..
More to come on this topic..
